Tron: Legacy is an encapsulating film following the story of Sam as he is trapped in a digital world that has held his father captive for 20 years. This film is perfect for the theme of “Tech Noir” as it shows a “What If?” scenario dealing with mass advancements in technology.
The visual and auditory aspects of this film truly are perfect for the genre. For about 90% of the movie, the setting is a futuristic cyberworld inside of a video game. The sound track, similarly, is techno-based exactly as you would expect from this sort of movie.

The Grid (what the digital world is named) is home of the textbook utopia-turned-dystopia stories, where the creator made it to be a perfect escape for the player. The Creator (Kevin) gets to see how his desire for a utopia led to dire consequences. The tensions between such an advanced invention and its eventual application is something that can be seen today in the real world. Artificial Intelligence is the perfect example in the real world for this. Initially created to solve higher levelled questions that the world’s smartest minds struggle with, now it is used all throughout academics to solve simpler tasks and save time.
